You know, it's been irritating me that I never wrote anything about remake of
"The Omen." "The Omen 666" if you want. The one released on 6-6-06. (Edgy!) I mean,
I think I mentioned it somewhere, but really, I wanted to hit on the whole curse
thing.
But first, why did thy try to make the release so Edgy?! They released it on 6/6/06,
at 6:06:06 AM. Even the President of Distribution at Fox manipulated the earning
amount on the first day and said it made $12,633,666. WOAH, THATS EXTREME MAN!
But thats not where the Edgy stops! OH NO! It's slated for DVD release on HALLOWEEN!
TOO MUCH EDGY!
But back to the Omen Curse.
The original Omen was cursed.
From Wikipedia:
The plane for scriptwriter David Seltzer was struck by lightning
Richard Donner's hotel was bombed by the Provisional IRA
Gregory Peck canceled a flight to Israel, only for the plane he'd chartered to
crash, killing all on board (a group of Japanese businessmen)
A warden at the safari park used in the "crazy baboon" scene was attacked and
killed by a tiger the day after the crew left
On the first day of shooting, the principal members of the crew survived a head-on
car crash.
The new Omen was "cursed"
From Wikipedia:
During the filming of The Omen, a strange occurrence happened on set: an entire
day's worth of film was lost. "It's strange. We lost a day of film," said Glenn
Williamson, a producer of The Omen. "It's not uncommon to maybe lose a reel or
maybe a shot. We lost an entire day of film on the scene when [Robert] Thorn goes
to cut [Damien’s] hair to see the 666. It was, like, 13,000 feet of film.
Everything had a big scratch on it."
In another strange event, Pete Postlethwaite (Father Brennan) not only lost his
brother while he was filming the movie, but before he passed, his brother was in a
card game in which he drew three sixes. Postlethwaite is reluctant to put together
a connection, but adds "I think things like that do happen and it's just sometimes
we're not sensitised enough to see the problem."
Also i saw in an interview one of the cast members hurt his leg. Either hurt a
muscle or broke it. Oh yeah, you're movie got the curse.
But yet in the interview, I think it was Julia Stiles who said the felt as though
she was working with a cursed movie.
